Fees and packages

Per lesson pricing, the five term packages, instrument hire and the trial lesson fee. Fees are held for the calendar year once published.

02Per lesson, by length

Thirty, forty five or sixty minutes

Billed for the ten lesson term, not week to week.

  • 30 minutes Suits most beginners $45/lesson
  • 45 minutes Suits AMEB candidates and older students $65/lesson
  • 60 minutes Advanced students, exam terms $85/lesson

  1. Trial lesson $35

    One off. Anyone deciding whether lessons are a good fit before committing to a term.

    • One full length trial lesson with a teacher matched to instrument and level
    • A written note on fit and suggested next steps
    • No obligation to continue
    • Credited toward your first term if you enrol within two weeks
  2. Weekly lessons, one term $450

    Per term. The standard enrolment for piano, guitar, drums, voice or an individual strings instrument. Forty five and sixty minute lessons are billed at the matching per lesson rate.

    • 10 x 30 minute individual lessons with the same teacher
    • Term dates aligned to the Victorian school term calendar
    • One make up lesson per term for a missed lesson with 24 hours notice
    • Progress note home after the first lesson
    • Instrument hire available separately if needed
  3. String ensemble, one term $210

    Per term. Strings students already taking individual lessons who are ready to play in a group, usually after a year or so.

    • Weekly 90 minute Tuesday rehearsal in the ensemble hall
    • Sheet music and stand provided
    • Place in the twice yearly recital program
    • Harp access for advanced students at exam time
  4. Band placement, one term $240

    Per term. Guitar, bass, drum, keys or vocal students ready to play with other people rather than only alone in a lesson.

    • Placement into a band matched by level, instrument and availability
    • Weekly 60 minute rehearsal in the band room on shared backline
    • A coach in the room for the full term
    • A short set prepared for the recital
  5. Exam preparation block $180

    Per term. Students entering an AMEB exam that term, on top of their normal weekly lesson.

    • One extra weekly 20 minute block focused purely on syllabus requirements
    • Aural and sight reading practice included
    • One mock exam with a second teacher present
    • Entry paperwork lodged by Anna before the AMEB deadline

05The fine print, in plain words

  • Term dates follow the Victorian school term calendar; fees are invoiced before the term starts.
  • One make up lesson per term for a lesson missed with 24 hours notice; not refunded beyond that.
  • Two weeks written notice to withdraw; fees already paid for the current term are not refunded.
  • AMEB sets and collects its own exam entry fee; we do not add a margin to it.
