AMEB exam preparation

Extra exam focused coaching in the term before an AMEB exam, coordinated in house by Anna so nothing gets missed.

Takes
One term of preparation ahead of the exam date

AMEB exams are not filmed, they happen in an examination room we do not control, but the piano and strings lessons that lead into them are exactly what the first film shows. Anna coordinates every entry that leaves this building: syllabus selection, entry paperwork and the exam date itself. In the term before an exam, students can add a short weekly block on top of their normal lesson focused purely on the syllabus requirements, aural and sight reading included, plus one mock exam with a second teacher in the room.

What is included

  • Syllabus and grade selection guidance from the student's own teacher
  • AMEB entry paperwork coordinated by Anna
  • Optional extra weekly block in the exam term, aural and sight reading included
  • One mock exam with a second teacher present
  • Honest advice on whether this term or next is the better fit

Guidance and entry coordination are included in your normal lessons. The optional extra weekly coaching block is billed per term. AMEB sets and collects the exam entry fee itself, we do not add a margin to it.

03Asked often

Before you book

Not here? It might be on the FAQ page, and if not, ring and ask.

How do we know if our child is ready for an exam?

Their own teacher will tell you, honestly, usually a term or two before the exam window. We would rather delay a grade than enter a student who is not ready.

Do you host the exam itself?

No, AMEB examiners sit exams at their own venues, not in our rooms. We prepare candidates and lodge the entry, the exam itself happens elsewhere.

Is exam preparation compulsory?

No. Plenty of long term students never sit an AMEB exam and that is a completely normal way to learn an instrument here.

Ask about exam readiness

Tell us the instrument and rough age, and we will match a teacher and a weekly slot. Or call (03) 5550 0190 and speak to the office.
